Labor Doula Training Program
Hi there!! I am so happy you are considering training with Atlanta’s Baby Consultant to become a Certified Doula! Below, you will find a description of the course and what you can expect to gain from it. This intimate course is 16 hours long, split between 2 to 4 days depending on the cohort. The training includes a 6-month mentorship during which we ensure you are fully prepared to take on clients after completing the program (most trainees have clients before the mentorship ends!). Course Description:
Our comprehensive Labor Doula Training Program is designed to prepare aspiring professionals for a rewarding career supporting expectant parents during one of the most transformative moments of their lives. This training provides you with the knowledge, skills, and compassion necessary to offer invaluable emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing individuals and their families.
Course Highlights:
1. Foundations of Labor Support: Understand the physiological and emotional aspects of pregnancy, labor, and childbirth.
2. Communication and Relationship Building: Learn effective techniques to build trust and strong relationships with expectant parents and healthcare providers.
3. Comfort Measures: Explore various comfort techniques, including breathing exercises, relaxation methods, and pain relief options to ease labor discomfort.
4. Labor Support Techniques: Develop practical skills to assist during labor, such as positioning, massage, and support tailored to different birth plans.
5. Medical Procedures and Interventions: Gain knowledge about standard medical procedures and interventions to provide informed support and help parents make decisions.
6. Cultural Competency and Diversity: Learn to provide inclusive and respectful care by understanding cultural sensitivity and diversity.
7. Postpartum Support: Learn how to support families emotionally and practically during the early postpartum period.
8. Business and Professional Development: Acquire tools and strategies for launching your labor doula career, including marketing, ethics, and client management.
9. Hands-On Practicum: Get practical experience attending births as a doula-in-training under the guidance of experienced mentors.
10. Certification and Continuing Education: Learn about the steps to become a certified labor doula and explore ongoing professional growth opportunities.
Requirements for Certification:
- Complete a 2-day training
- Complete 6-month mentorship, meeting at least once a month for a minimum of 1 hour each session.
- Complete mentorship assignments focused on building your brand and business.
- Finish three reading assignments and submit a video report.
