Thank you for your interest in having your placenta encapsulated by Atlanta’s Baby Consultant. Below you will find information to assist you on your journey.
Though there is no definitive evidence that supports or contradicts placenta encapsulation, there are many reasons parents decide to consume their placenta. The most common benefits reported are increased milk supply, increased iron and energy levels, and decreased likelihood of postpartum depression. It is important to remember results and benefits may differ from parent to parent or even from pregnancy to pregnancy from the same parent.
The placenta encapsulation package includes turning the placenta into capsules, a 2 oz tincture, a print of your placenta and an umbilical cord keepsake.
A contract as well as an invoice will be sent to begin with. The contract has to be signed and invoice paid in full in order for me to pick up the placenta. It is recommend waiting until you actually have the placenta in your possession before paying the invoice in full unless you are having a home birth. You will also need to send your lab results via email. The lab results needed are as follows/ HIV status, Hep B, STD status, and GBS status.
two gallon size Ziploc bags
cooler or lunchbox (disposable)
Double bag the placenta.
Place ice on the bottom of the cooler or lunch box
Place the double bagged placenta on top of ice
Place more ice on top of the placenta.
After birth you would call (470)794-2229 to let the placenta specialist know that the baby is here and you have the placenta ready to be picked up. It is also recommend having a friend or family member on standby to receive the placenta in the event the encapsulation specialist is in a birth or it is after pick up hours. Pick up hours are between 8am-8pm. The specialist will coordinate pick up of the placenta from the friend or family member if this situation occurs. You also have the option of your partner or support person taking the placenta to your home and placeing it in the freezer until you are discharged. And then the placenta will be picked it up from you there. It takes 5 to 7 business days for the placenta to be completed and return to you.

Can I still encapsulate if there is meconium? Yes!! There are additional steps taken to minimize the risk of any bacteria transmitted back to the mother/parent.
When can I not encapsulate my placenta? If you develop fever in labor, the placenta is not refrigerated or frozen within 3 hours of delivery, HIV positive or if the specialist sees signs of infection.
I’m not interested in the tincture or keepsake. Is the fee the same? A la cart is not available for placenta encapsulation at this time.
